October 26th 2021 - Expanding collaboration between Allihoop co-living and Studentbostäder i Norden
This autumn Allihoop's co-living community “Spånga Stars”, in the outskirts of Stockholm, has welcomed many new members from all corners of the world. Allihoop's lease agreement with the student housing company Studentbostäder i Norden (SBS) is now expanding, enabling the number of residents in the property to double. Now, more international talent can benefit from a valuable community network, which is often what newly arrived residents are looking for.
The large inflow of new members to “Spånga Stars” has been a real success, providing the opportunity for 60 additional international talents to move in this autumn. The lease agreement between Allihoop and SBS previously incorporated a rental of 70 studios, this will now expand to around 130. The lease agreement has a rental term of 10 years and means that Allihoop's community-based housing will take over the entire property, which is managed by SBS.
- It requires a certain level of maturity and common sense for these properties to succeed. We saw opportunities in an area where other providers were not brave enough to touch. SBS has been a flexible and responsive partner - which is exactly what you need when you are breaking new ground. SBS continued to invest when they saw the success in “Spånga Stars”. The fact that we have a Net Promoter Score of 9.4 has definitely contributed to the increased collaboration, says Milad Barosen, CEO and co-founder of Allihoop.
Allihoop's membership base are between 23-35 years old and comes from over 40 different countries. They move to Stockholm to do their master's degree, a PhD or to work for companies like H&M, Klarna and Amazon. Allihoop's community-based business model recognizes the fact that networking is important for young newcomers in Stockholm.
- I didn’t know anyone when I moved to Stockholm, and this was a chance to bond and make friends. It’s a respectful community where you get the space you need and an opportunity to socialize in a safe environment. We do everything together, from kayaking to poetry nights, and every Sunday, we cook a gigantic meal. I thought co-living wasn’t for everyone, but now I believe it is. Both tolerance and communication are vital, which makes you evolve, says Linda Laura László, a 25-year-old master’s student at KTH from Hungary, who lives in “Spånga Stars”.
Over the next three years, SBS plans to build an additional 1,000 homes in and around Spånga - and Allihoop is along for the journey. In similar collaborations, it can often take up to six months for discussions and negotiations to reach the table, but in this case both companies have acted quickly in a complex housing market.
- The collaboration with Allihoop brings real value to our organization as we can combine student housing with good business. The network offered by co-living is key for both students and professionals, where they can benefit from each other. I believe we will see more of this type of flexible housing in the future, says Rebecka Eidenert, CEO of Studentbostäder i Norden.
